    Article summary

Here you create new attributes for both the system and custom entities.

    Note:

The Add Attribute option is accessible only when you select a specificEntity from the Entities dropdown menu. It is not available if you select the All option, listing all attributes.

To add new attributes to the entity:

    1. Select the required entity from the Entities dropdown list.

    2. Click +Add Attribute. A series of text boxes, each representing different aspects of the Attribute you want to create are displayed:

      • Attribute Name: This is where you input the name of the attribute, such as "OrderDate" or CustomerType. An attribute name cannot contain spaces and special characters.

      • Attribute Label: Provide a meaningful name for your attribute here. For instance, if the attribute name is "CaseSubject," the label would be "Case Subject."

      • Category: Select the appropriate category for the attribute. Use Phone for phone numbers, Email for email addresses, and Business for other types of information. This helps to organize attributes logically.

      • Data Type: Specify the type of data the attribute will hold. Options typically include data types like Integer, String, Date, Float (decimal numbers with moderate precision, for example, 10.25) and Double (decimal numbers with higher precision, for example, 10.2546789)

      • Format: If you choose a date-type and date-time type attribute, you can choose a format for your date here.

      • Attribute Type: A display-only attribute that applies only to system entities. It shows whether the attribute is a custom attribute (created by you) or a system attribute (predefined within the system).

      • Unique Identifier: Indicate whether this attribute will serve as a unique identifier for the entity by selecting Yes or No. It’s essential to define one attribute as a unique identifier for data ingestion, as this ensures the attribute maintains uniqueness across records.

      • Profile link: Contains the unique identifiers mapped to the Profile. Choose an identifier to point the child record to the right Profile. This field is displayed only for child entities.

      • Actions: Contains options to save or discard the entry (available when a respective entity is selected.

    3. To save the attribute details, click the tick mark in Actions to save the attribute. Now, the entry gets added to the attributes list under the respective entity.

      Note:

ProfileCreatedTimeStamp, ProfileUpdatedTimestamp, and SegmentUpdatedTimestamp are linked to the Profile entity and are display-only attributes. They are listed just for reference and cannot be edited.
