Unique Identifiers

Unique identifiers act like secret codes for Identity resolution, ensuring each customer profile remains distinct and accurately linked to the right records. Each unique identifier serves as the unique trait that sets a customer profile apart from others. Each customer profile has its special identifier, ensuring no mix-ups in the data crowd. Data Cloud has a standard set of eight unique identifiers that are marked with an asterisk sign. You can also make your Custom Profile attribute a unique identifier.

For example, Data Cloud attributes like phone and email are unique identifiers and it is mandatory to have a unique identifier associated with each entity that we map. Some of the characteristics of unique identifiers are:

• These identifiers can be one or any of the listed Profile attributes or also the one Custom profile attribute that the user creates or wants.

• You cannot map the same profile attribute with the same object field again. Duplicates cannot be created.
