    Article summary

Let’s consider a use case where attribute filtering in data comes into play.

Scenario: ABC Contact Center wants their records to specifically filter a customer name whose date of birth is lesser than the mentioned date window.

To do so, ABC must do the following:

    1. On the Source that was created, click Map Attributes.

    2. Select the Apply Filters tab.

    3. By default, a filter query is listed. Select the required condition from the list. For example, let’s pick Last Modified Date.

    4. Select the required date from the date dropdown menu.

    5. Now, click +Add. The first added condition query has AND as the default query operator.

    6. From the Select Field dropdown list, select First Name.

      Note:

This dropdown menu contains the list of Salesforce object fields.

    7. From the Operators dropdown list, select Equals to.

    8. Type the name ‘John’ in the blank field.

The first filter to sift a specific customer name is now added.

    9. To create a second filter, do the following:

    10. Click +Add again. In the Select Field dropdown menu, select Birth Date. The operating condition can be AND.

      Important:

The AND operator combines multiple conditions in a logical expression, yielding true only if all conditions are true. The OR operator, on the other hand, produces true if at least one of the conditions is true. In this scenario, the operators can be AND for both queries because ABC requires both conditions to be true.

    11. From the Operators dropdown list, select Less than.

    12. Select the required date from the calendar dropdown list. For example, let’s select 01/01/2000.

    13. Click Save.

Now, ABC has created a filter for their mapped field records to contain data pertaining only to the name John and their date of birth is lesser than the specified date.

    Important:

    • The filters you apply are saved only when you click Save.

    • To change the operators from AND to OR or vice versa, click the operator. The operator label is changed.

You have the flexibility to set and execute schedules for extracting data from these sources through the connections you establish. The connections also play a key role in transferring data and creating customer segments.
