Salesforce and Objects
Before delving into how Salesforce and Data Cloud work together, let’s understand the context of objects and their working mechanisms in Salesforce.
Salesforce objects are analogous to database tables. These objects come in two flavors:
Standard Objects: Objects already created for you by Salesforce, these include common business objects like Accounts, Contacts, Leads, and Cases.
Custom Objects: Objects that you create in your organization with the user interface or with the Metadata API to unique business needs, with custom fields and relationships.
Person and Non-Person Objects
Salesforce categorizes objects into:
Person Objects: These include objects like Contacts and Leads that hold personal information about individuals.
Non-Person Objects: These encompass objects like Accounts, Products, Opportunities, and Cases that relate to business objects or processes rather than individuals.
